COVID19 UPDATE,  1st July 2020

Thank you to all our customers who have taken credit for a future visit, it has really helped us to stay in business.

This is a summer like no other for us all. Holidays are good for body and soul but we all must think about every action we take so that we do not endanger ourselves or others.

If you are thinking of coming to stay at Lochranza Campsite this summer please read the following information carefully:-

We are taking bookings now, and will be open from the 15th July onwards.

From 3rd July we can also take caravans and motorhomes with their own on-board facilities.

Is Arran open? Yes, but some Arran cafes, restaurants and visitor attractions will not be opening this summer. Please check with VisitArran as to what is and isn’t open.  Food can be bought at Pirnmill Stores (7 miles from Lochranza) and the Co-op at Brodick. The island is still as beautiful as ever with lots of great walking to enjoy.

Our safety measures:

We will be cleaning the facilities that are open in accordance with government instructions. Please use your private facilities if possible.

We have halved the number of pitches available.

The following facilities will NOT be available: Basecamp, fridges, drying cupboard, laundry, outside cooking shelter.

The washrooms will be open from 15th July as 2 unisex blocks, but only one social group may use either block at a time. Each block will have toilets and showers. If you do not have your own facilities we recommend bringing a portapotty in case of urgent need. This can be emptied in the chemical disposal point.

The following facilities are available: chemical disposal, hook-ups, bins, water.

Important points:

  • Book your ferry ticket first. The Arran ferries have reduced capacity this summer due to social distancing
  • We will only accept visitors with bookings
  • Social distancing (minimum 2m) on the campsite is essential at all times, please be very respectful of other guest's personal space
  • A face covering or mask must be worn when booking in at reception and when talking to our staff
  • When you first arrive please wait in your vehicle at the gate and someone will come to check you in using a safe payment screen. Bank card payments preferred, only one person in reception at any one time
  • Handwashing facilities will be available. Please use them every time you have touched gates, door handles, light switches, taps, hook up points, outdoor tables and bins

If you develop signs of coronavirus you must self-isolate, seek a test and return home as soon as possible.

Campsites are very friendly places and we are sorry that it will be essential for staff to keep face-to-face talking to a bare minimum this year. We are all living through uncharted waters and we must trust each other to take care of one another’s wellbeing whilst enjoying a great outdoors holiday. For information on local walks click here:

A Quiet Site

The campsite in brief:
Tents, caravans and motor-homes welcome for holidays and short breaks.
Four camping pods for hire.

Lochranza Campsite is owned and managed by staff who are active campers and caravanners.

As you enter the campsite you will find yourself in a bowl-shaped area of  flat ground surrounded by steep hillsides where red deer graze and golden eagles fly and where mountain burns tumble down to the sea.

The campsite has level grass pitches. Hardstandings and electric hook ups are available. Our facilities include hot showers with hairdryers, clean toilets and wash basins. We also have dishwashing sinks, an outdoor cooking shelter and a chemical toilet disposal point. In the reception block there is an information room and a laundry as well as a shower room and toilet for those with restricted mobility. Access Statement

Gold award

May 2017:

"Lochranza Campsite does well securing the GOLD award at first grading attempt. Kathryn and Nigel have clearly put in a lot of effort to reduce some of the bigger potential impacts of the site, engage with other island organisations/charities, and also give a really green experience to guests."
